Festivals & Events

Taking it to the street…or the beach, the park or the bush! Loose Canon knows no bounds when it comes to entertaining children and families. Most of our shows are remarkably portable and can be performed just about anywhere. Or we can create a show or performance for a specific event. Some of our more recent event work is listed below. If you want more information or if you’re interested in making a booking, please contact us and we’ll get you in on the act…

Primo Italiano – May 2008 + June 2007

The City of Sydney's Primo Italiano is a free street festival which celebrates the Italian flavours and heritage of East Sydney. As part of both the 2008 and 2007 festivals, Loose Canon presented a series of hilarious Italian-themed street scenes specially commissioned by the City Of Sydney. Some of these scenes included a grape stomping operatic romance, a cheesey Italian cooking demo, a hapless organ grinder and his cheeky monkey, a modern day Romeo and Juliet (think Shakespeare meets Wogs Out Of Work) and a Fellini-esque film director and his troublesome American starlet!

Sydney Festival  – January 2008 + January 2007

As part of the Children’s Program of the 2008 Sydney Festival, Loose Canon presented a special performance of the hilarious La Tent Show Fantastico in the Famous Speigeltent in Hyde Park. Loose Canon also hosted three weeks of special lunchtime performances in The Speigeltent during both the 2008 and 2007 Sydney Festivals. Disaster of Ceremonies Johnny Nasser presented a series of free workshops, performances and activities that allowed younger audiences to get up close with Festival artists, find out how the shows are made and learn some of the tricks of the trade.
