Darlingwood Tales is an outlandish musical theatre experience that transports young audiences into a deliciously eccentric and boldly unexpected realm of contemporary urban Australian fairy tales. 

Located in a bizarre netherworld inspired by the characters and laneways of inner-city of Sydney, this quartet of original stories combine classic fairy tale sentiment with the wit, wisdom and wackiness of Darlinghurst’s “gutteratti”. 

The result is a rollicking Roald Dahl-style family musical that cleverly reinterprets old-time Aussie vaudeville for young contemporary audiences.

With a cast of schemeing thieves, shysters, showgirls and buccaneers, Darlingwood Tales sets out to create a unique and innovative piece of children’s theatre that will entertain and inspire both the young and the young at heart.

Darlingwood Tales will be presented by the Sydney Opera House during 2009.
